🐶 Basic Characteristics

Height: Male: 24 – 27 inches (61 – 69 cm).
Weight: 65 – 90 kg (143 – 200 lbs).

Coat: Short, dense, smooth coat, easy to maintain.

Colors: Brindle, fawn, brown, red, and cream; black masks are common on the muzzle.

Life Span: Average: 9 – 11 years.

Temperament

  • Protective & Confident: Bred as a farm guardian, highly alert and territorial.
  • Loyal & Devoted: Strong bond with family, excellent guard dog.
  • Gentle with Family: Despite size, can be affectionate and patient, especially with children when socialized early.
  • Dominant Nature: Independent and strong-willed, requires an experienced owner with firm, consistent training.
  • Intelligent & Trainable: Quick learner but needs clear leadership and boundaries.
  • Wary of Strangers: Natural suspicion makes them excellent watchdogs.

Health

  • Hip & Elbow Dysplasia (common in large, heavy breeds).
  • Heart Diseases (such as cardiomyopathy).
  • Bloat (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus) → life-threatening stomach twisting.
