Temperament

They are naturally protective and alert, often acting as watchdogs without aggression. Collies thrive on attention and companionship and may develop anxiety if left alone for long periods.
Health
Collies are generally healthy but may be prone to collie eye anomaly (CEA), hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and drug sensitivity (MDR1 gene). Regular vet checkups, a balanced diet, and proper exercise help maintain their long-term health.
Care Tips
- Exercise: Provide daily walks, play sessions, or mental stimulation to keep them physically and mentally active.
- Grooming: Brush the long double coat 2–3 times a week to prevent matting and remove loose hair.
- Training & Socialization: Start early with positive reinforcement; expose them to different people, pets, and environments.
- Diet: Feed a high-quality, balanced diet to maintain healthy weight and support their active lifestyle.
- Health Monitoring: Schedule routine vet visits to check for eye issues, hip health, and other breed-specific concerns.
- Mental Engagement: Provide puzzle toys, obedience training, or herding activities to prevent boredom and anxiety.
