🐶 Basic Characteristics

Height: Male: 23 – 27 inches (60 – 69 cm).
Weight: 54 – 65 kg (119 – 143 lbs).

Coat: Short, fine, and soft to the touch.

Colors: Shades of fawn (light fawn to mahogany), often with a black or brown mask.

Life Span: Average: 8 – 10 years.

Temperament

  • Loyal & Devoted: Strongly bonded to their family, protective by nature.
  • Calm & Gentle: Despite their size, they are affectionate and loving indoors.
  • Protective Instincts: Natural guardians, alert but not overly aggressive without cause.
  • Confident & Courageous: Bred for guarding homes and property.
  • Affectionate with Family: Especially gentle with children when properly trained and socialized.
  • Independent but Trainable: Intelligent, but can be stubborn → needs consistent, firm training.

Health

  • Hip & Elbow Dysplasia (common in mastiff breeds).
  • Bloat (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus) – life-threatening stomach twisting.
  • Heart Diseases (aortic stenosis, dilated cardiomyopathy).
  • Skin Infections (especially in wrinkles and folds).
